WWII Vichy French 1 Franc HOLLOW SPY COIN with compartment as used by SOE Agents in occupied France
These hollow coins were used by agents to carry data either in the form of coded messages or micro film, concealed in a hollow compartment within the coin. It is assumed that such a coin would have been of the type used by SOE agents active in occupied France during WW2.
This original French Vichy aluminium 1 Franc piece was expertly precision hand-machined from two actual coins to create a secret interior compartment. Once closed, it is absolutely indistinguishable from a regular coin to the naked eye. It can be handled normally without any chance of an accidental opening. The coin is supplied with an opening device, without which it's next to impossible to open up the coin.
This is an old vintage pre 1945 coin and will show some wear- dates will vary between 1941 and 1945
Diameter 22mm.
